Technology - Walsall Based - Hybrid - Senior Technical Engineer
CET is looking for a Senior Technical Engineer to join our growing Technology team and help strengthen and secure our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. This is a hands-on, second-line support role at the core of a modern, cloud-first business focusing on security, resilience, and continuous improvement. You’ll be the go-to expert for Microsoft 365, Azure, and our wider cyber-defence tools, ensuring our systems remain robust, compliant, and optimised for performance.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver expert 3rd line support for internal systems and services.
- Administer and optimise the Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, OneDrive).
- Act as a key escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring swift resolution and root cause analysis.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues before they impact users.
- Collaborate with IT, Security, and Development teams to ensure system reliability, security, and compliance, by maintaining and referencing clear technical documentation and SOPs.
- Respond to alerts and incidents from our outsourced SOC provider and Darktrace dashboard.
- Mentor and train 1st and 2nd line support staff to elevate service quality.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience in 3rd line support with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure.
- Deep knowledge of Azure AD, MFA, SSO, Conditional Access, and Identity Management.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Purview, Log Analytics, and Azure Backup/VMs.
- Solid understanding of networking in cloud environments (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls).
- Experience with secure data exchange (e.g., SFTP).
- Familiarity with ISO27001, GDPR, and vulnerability assessments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Cisco Meraki and Sophos firewalls.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server (queries, backup/restore).
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Power Automate, and Graph API.
- Exposure to Twilio and Twilio Flex is a plus.
Qualifications
We value experience and capability over formal education, but the following would be a bonus:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Microsoft certifications in Azure or Microsoft 365.
We operate a hybrid working model and this role is based in our Walsall off with a requirement to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
